I was recommended to Driftwood Music by Gibson. I have my dad's Les Paul Gibson which has been broken for as long as I've ever seen it. He died when I was 9, I started playing when I was 13. I have multiple guitars now but really wanted this Gibson fixed. I had been scared to get it fixed due to the sentiment - what if it couldn't get fixed and I had to replace parts? I wanted it as original as I got it, I didn't want parts replaced. I spoke with Pete about the fact I wanted it repaired if possible. If it needed replaced, well, I could deal with it if it meant I got to play it. There was some delay in the work done but the line of work is long because this is the work they do (worth the wait). Pete repaired it... beautifully. I couldn't have asked for a better job. I'm no expert but I can see the work of an expert. I am so incredibly grateful and excited because this grafting repair is just... well, look at it! (The 2x2 picture is top-before, bottom-after). ANYTHING you need done, trust these guys to get it as right as they can, as honestly as you deserve. Today, 3/24/25, was the first time I've ever gotten to actually play my dad's Gibson since I started playing 20 years ago. You ever hug a guitar like it had arms to hug you back? I can now say I have. I got it fixed, dad! Thank you.
Amazing little shop! Incredibly friendly staff and a great selection of amps and instruments!!! They also make their own guitars, and the owner showed me around the shop!
This is one of the coolest guitar shops I have ever visited. The guys who run it are very kind and engaging, and they have a great selection of instruments in the shop. And the vibe is perfect. Check them out when you are in the St. Charles, Missouri area.
Fantastic experience! I traded in some old equipment and received more than I thought I would. The staff were great, owner was great, experience was great. I will be back! Thank you all for the help finding an amp that I've been looking to buy for YEARS!
The Guitarist's Guitar Store...and More! EVERY instrument I played sounded amazing. Expert AND friendly service. At other stores, the only instruments that sound, feel, AND look any good are a small range of predictable, new pro-grade models. At Driftwood, I played seven very different guitars and each one sounded, felt, and looked great. I walked in and had some nut slots filed by the owner (Pete Buncher), who received his luthier training at Gibson, in just a few minutes for a total of $10. I walked around while the repair was made and had every question expertly answered, including how some of the vintage instruments have been impressively retrofitted with X-bracing, a new neck or headstock that matches the original, or a spruce inlay to fix a damaged sound hole. No brand bias, pushy sales, or half-baked repair explanations. They also stock violins, bass violins, ukuleles, banjos, mandolins, electric guitars, and electric bass guitars. The workshop and sales floor are clean, well-organized and climate-controlled. If you like solid tonewoods, patina finishes, quality builds, rich tones, long sustains, and price value, there really is something for everyone. Newer players can find an aged Kay, Harmony, or even a well-worn mahogany Martin D-15 (glued cracks and shredding scars included) for $700, that sound like guitars twice or three times the cost. Intermediate/Advanved players can find a seasoned Gibson Dove or Gospel or some quality copies of a Les Paul or Fender Telecaster. Collectors can find an immaculate Kim Breedlove C25 (which some say rivals the Taylor Grand Orchestra in tone range) or a 1959 Fender Jazzmaster that looks like it was frozen in time. Or, ask about Pete's new custom-made acoustic, electric, and bass guitars. For example, the acoustic guitar in the photo is his hybrid body creation that combines the volume and depth of a dreadnaught with the definition and mids of an OM. It's definitely worth the trip to come in and try something out.
